The symphonic work "Badische BildrBaden Pictures" explores four typical landscapes of southwestern Germany in five movements: Lake Constance, the Hegau region, the Black Forest, and the Rhine River, as well as a blissful wine festival in a village somewhere between the Kaiserstuhl and Karlsruhe, enriched by traditional and cheerful brass band music. The individual movements musically evoke the atmosphere of each landscape.
This includes the awakening of nature on Lake Constance with the gurgling sounds of water on the shore beneath a wooden footbridge, and a drive through the Hegau, a dramatic, volcanic landscape between Lake Constance and the Swabian Alps. The middle movement depicts the imposing and breathtaking beauty of the Black Forest, which captivates the listener, followed by a quiet, mysterious, and contemplative walk along the Rhine, its picturesque beauty veiled by the slowly lifting lifting mist. And finally, according to ancient custom, the brass band awakens the villagers early in the morning. The wine festival lasts all day until everyone drops, and only a hard-drinking musician makes it to the late-night finale…
