The symphonic meditation "Osternacht“ (Easter vigil) was written in 1987. It is subtitled with "Longing for heaven". In the classical sense the composition could be seen as symphonic poem. By the sacral context it containes also the aspect of an oratorio, which indeed bears characteristics of a church opera by the choreographic instructions given in the score. The composer uses here the ancient German Easter hymn "Christ ist erstanden" (Christ is risen) as well as the Gregorian Liturgy "Victimae pascali laudes" (Easter Antiphon). |

The "Variações Brasileiras" were composed 1980 by Kaiser-Lindemann originally under the actual subtitle "Bossa nova filarmónica" for 6 Celli. In 2006, he arranged the work for 12 violoncellos, commissioned by the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, for a CD production of the "EMI classics" with pieces that had Latin America as their theme. The specification here was that it was in Latin-American atmosphere on classical-symphonic ground and that it should be highly virtuosic for each player. Thus, each of the twelve cellists is a protagonist here, each in his part equally melodic, as well as virtuous bravura facets. The recording was released on the CD "South American Getaway". |

Variations on a Christmas carol from Silesia for organ "O laufet, ihr Hirten" (Go, o shepherds, go fast) by an unknown composer. Place and date were mentioned at the end of the manuscript as La Pallice 19.11.1943. So it seems that the author was a Silesian organist who has been recruited as soldier in La Rochelle/La Pallice. |

The Heroes' Symphony op. 72, composed in 1936, is to be understood as a tribute to the soldiers who died in the World War. The later deliberately misinterpreted patriotic stance of the composer Ferndinand Wilhelm Kranzhoff directs, in the words of German poets, our gaze to the German nation on behalf of all victims of a senseless slaughter for the aims of an unscrupulous political elite. As the composer, only 36 years old, fell in combat barely four years later at the beginning of the Second World War, this work seems like a foreboding foresight into one's own fate. |
