Marcello's most noted composition might be the Concerto D minor for oboe and orchestra. It owes its popularity to the transcription for harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 974). At first it has been regarded to be written by Antonio Vivaldi. The original key is C minor. As such it is arranged for 12 Cellists by Johannes Bublitz.

Erik Satie's most famous composition are the Trois Gymnopédies for piano composed in 1888, three references to those dances of younglings in the ancient Sparta, who circle around a Apollon-Statue and dignified the falen troops of the battle of  Thyrea. The Suite op. 28 is a commissioned work of the "Brandenburgischer Musiksommer“. The here presented original version was composed for "The 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra". This work was premiered by the 12 Cellists at the 19th of August 2000 on occasion of the "Brandenburgischer Musiksommer“

Thr later authored version for string orchestra op. 28a was designed for grand symphonic orchestra as well as for chamber orchestra and solo ensemble.

The meditation “... und Penthesilea träumt“ (...and Penthesilea deams) op. 34 for 12 Celli by Wilhelm Kaiser-Lindemann has been a commissioned work for the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The first performance took place on the occasion of the Musikfestival Dresden in the Dresden Semperoper.
Kaiser-Lindeman's composition referes to Hugo Wolf's (1860-1903) symphonic poem “Penthesilea“ based on the eponymous tragedy by the German poet Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811).
