The high- to late-romantic concert sonata for two pianos, composed in 1945, is based on the wind quintet op.6 from 1943. The 3rd movement is composed of variations on "Chant de la Creuse" from "18 Pièces brèves" by César Franck. The concluding fugue part of the final movement picks up this theme again. Thus a brad themaic bridge is constructed in an impressive manner.
The movements:
I Allegro moderato [6' 20"]
II Scherzo [4' 45"]
III Variations on a theme by César Franck [5' 10"]
VI Finale [6' 20"]
