The meditation “... und Penthesilea träumt“ (...and Penthesilea deams) op. 34 for 12 Celli by Wilhelm Kaiser-Lindemann has been a commissioned work for the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The first performance took place on the occasion of the Musikfestival Dresden in the Dresden Semperoper.
Kaiser-Lindeman's composition referes to Hugo Wolf's (1860-1903) symphonic poem “Penthesilea“ based on the eponymous tragedy by the German poet Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811).
