In the 1932 written romance "Tag Mahal" for violin and piano, the composer is inspired by the aesthetics of the Indian tomb of the same name. Like the building made of white marble, the delicate, restrained theme symbolizes the spiritual love for the dead beloved. The silent sweetness of remembrance is increasingly compounded by the surge of pain over the irretrievable loss.
